Western Mass Man Found Unconscious In Car With PCP After Crashing, Police Say

A Western Massachusetts man crossed over four lanes of traffic before crashing on the lawn of a restaurant after allegedly taking PCP and passing out while driving, police said.

Police in Hampden County received a report of a one-car crash on the front lawn of the Blue Elephant restaurant on Boston Road at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, April 17 with an unconscious man inside.

Upon arrival, officers from the Wilbraham Police Department found the driver, Andres Moret, of Chicopee, unconscious behind the wheel with PCP in his lap and inside the vehicle.

The investigation into the crash determined that Moret allegedly became unconscious while driving eastbound and crossed over four lanes of traffic before crashing on the opposite side of the road.

Moret, 37, was charged with:

  • Possession of a Class B (PCP) controlled substance;
  • Operating under the influence of drugs;
  • Negligent operation of a motor vehicle;
  • Crossing over marked lanes;
  • Attaching license plates;
  • Unregistered operation of a motor vehicle;
  • Uninsured operation of a motor vehicle;
  • Operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
